Compare 2

Two analogue window comparators and a logic section in 8 HP, for extracting gates and pulses from any signal. Where a regular comparator fires when a voltage rises above a threshold, a window comparator checks whether it sits between two levels.

Key features

• Each window set by a shift knob, from −5 V to +5 V, and a size knob, from a few millivolts to 10 V, both under voltage control
• Complementary gate outputs and a big three-colour LED on each comparator
• Every input normalised from the left comparator to the right, so one signal and one set of CVs can drive both
• A logic section combines the two outputs into AND, OR, XOR and flip-flop signals, each with its own LED
• Complex rhythms, dual pulse width modulation, frequency division, voltage-controlled swing and logic with adjustable thresholds
